Road Trip ’16, Part One: The Heat Dome

Hi, everyone! I'm so happy to report that we made it to North Carolina, safe and sound: two weeks, nine states, 3,652.7 miles. We’ve seen so much and learned so much in the last few weeks, it's a little overwhelming. We’re still processing it all, and probably will be for a long time. But I can say, it's already  been an incredible experience, and one I'm so glad to share with my family.

The Christmas Miracle

The Christmas Miracle

In my family, we have a little something called The Christmas Miracle. It started when I was younger, working in New York, and had a series of rather harrowing trips home to my sister’s house in South Carolina for Christmas. One year my flight was cancelled. Another year, a surprise snowstorm snarled traffic, and my flight took off while I was still in the Midtown Tunnel. Yet another year I went to LaGuardia instead of Newark. Sigh.

I Yam What I Yam.

I Yam What I Yam.

At one time or another, I've been a student, an advertising person, a musician, a writer, an actor, a wife, a mother, a marathon runner, a yoga teacher...sometimes all at once. It's sounds a little schizophrenic, and maybe it is. But it's all I know. When I want to do something, I do it.  It's a mishmash, for sure, but it's my mishmash. And my guess is, most of you have a mishmash of your own, too.

Once a Runner...

Once a Runner...

Before yoga, there was running.  There were countless miles on the city streets of New York and LA and San Francisco. And on good days, really good days, there were trails: long and lush and green, winding around lakes and along the curves of mountains. When I was running, I was in heaven.
